11-22-09 Two Days This Week!

We only have two days of school this week! In Lit. Studies we’ll be continuing reading our book Al Capone Does My Shirts.

In science class, we’re going to be starting our project for the Living Things unit. You’ll be creating your own living organism that has the 6 characteristics. You’ll also be creating a habitat for your organism that supplies the 4 needs of living things to keep it alive. We’ll learn more about it on Monday when you get the rubric.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!! Here’s a link to some Thanksgiving Online Games. :)

11-18-09 Living vs. Nonliving

Now that we’re through with the metric system, we’ll be comparing living and nonliving things. By the end of this unit, you should know the
6 characteristics of living things:
Cellular Organization
Use Energy
Reproduce
Grow & Develop
Made of Similar Chemicals
Respond to Surroundings

and the
4 Needs of Living Things:
Food
Water
Living Space
Stable Internal Conditions

11-07-09 Test Tuesday!! Field Trip Wednesday!!

I hope you’ve been practicing your metric conversions! We’ll be reviewing on Monday and getting a study guide to help you practice.

If you still aren’t comfortable with converting, make sure you let me know so I can help you understand!!

THEN, get ready for our field trip!!! It’s supposed to be sunny and low 50s so make sure you dress appropriately. We’ll be outside the whole day. I can’t wait!!! :D

11-5-09 Density Lab

We’ll be finishing the Density Cube Lab tomorrow (Friday). If you don’t finish the graph, analysis questions and conclusion in class, they will be homework over the weekend and DUE MONDAY!

Don’t forget…test Tuesday over the Metric System and Converting! :o

11-4-09 Metric Mania

I think you all are really starting to get metric conversions! I saw a LOT of right answers today during Metric Mania. :) I hope you’re practicing for your test next TUESDAY!

There’s some simple practice if you click on the Metric Conversion Game link. Good luck!

11-01-09 Labs this Week!

We’ve been doing a lot of practice with converting numbers using the metric system. I hope you all are starting to get good at it! Our test is not until NEXT Tuesday (the 10th of November) so you still have time to practice. This week we’ll be doing a few labs.

Monday & Tuesday we’ll be tying all the different types of measurements we’ve learned (mass, length, and volume) to observe the difference water can make on a gummy bear.

Wednesday we’ll have Metric Mania Day!! You’ll be practicing more converting…hopefully it’ll be easy for you by then!

Thursday and Friday we’ll be conducting a lab focused on Density. Then, Monday we’ll review for the test and Tuesday we’ll take it. Then we’re off on our field trip on Wednesday!!! Can’t wait! It’s my favorite of the year.

10-24-09 LAST WEEK OF THE 1st QUARTER!!!

This is the LAST week of the first quarter! That means that you need to make sure that all of your missing assignments are in and you’re caught up on all current work too! Ask ALL of your teachers how you’re doing in class. Check your locker and folders for any work that you may have forgotten to turn in.

This quarter’s grades will be your first report card which your parents will pick up on November 12th. They MUST come to the school in order to receive your report card.

Keep up the good effort!

10-06-09 BRING MATERIALS TOMORROW!

We should be starting our experiments tomorrow. Make sure you bring everything you need from home and I’ll have the supplies you’ve asked me for waiting for you. :)

10-6-09 Materials for the Experiment

Tomorrow we will be starting our experiments! Make sure you bring all the materials that you need from home. If there are things you want me to provide, I need to have a list BY TODAY so that I can have them ready for you.

I can’t wait to watch the experiments in action! :D
